Scottish salmon was the first fish and the first foreign product to be awarded the prestigious Label Rouge by the French Ministry of Agriculture in 1992. This Label Rouge Scottish salmon complies with very strict specifications, including a feed composed exclusively of products of marine origin, vegetable ingredients, vitamins and minerals, a maximum of 16% lipids in the flesh, an identification system guaranteeing total traceability and absolute freshness, farming in accordance with codes of good practice, respecting the well-being of the fish, the environment and sustainability, a maximum density of 1.5% fish for 98.5% water in the sea basins, and a guaranteed Scottish origin.
