This black rice called in Thai "Si Nin" or Rice Berry was called banned rice because it was reserved for the Emperor of China who forbade, therefore, consumption to his subjects.
It is grown in northern Thailand and comes from the Chiang Rai area where it is found in small quantities. High in nutritional value, this rice has a taste reminiscent of hazelnut and hot bread and is rich in iron and fiber. Its dark purple color is mainly due to its high anthocyanin content. It mainly offers significant benefits for health.
The best rice of Thailand, from rice fields to your table without loss of flavor.
These "Premium" rice varieties are the best among the 360 varieties produced in Thailand. They come from the north near Chiang Rai. At 460 meters above sea level, they enjoy ideal heat and humidity. Cultivated as 4,500 years ago with respect for traditions, these rices are fresh and exclusive.
The long pearly white Hom Malee (KDM 105) is characterized by a subtle aroma unique in the world tinged with jasmine flower. The royal government has given it a dedicated label, a guarantee of origin and of the highest quality.
Long-grain black Rice Berry is much rarer. Its taste is reminiscent of hazelnuts and hot bread and gives off a cocoa scent at the end of cooking. Its dark purple color is mainly due to its high level of anthocyanin.
The long-grained, slightly crunchy Man Pou has a delicate nutty scent.
