This Côtes du Rhône has everything to please fans of sincere, generous wines. This characterful red comes from a family estate in Tulette, in the Drôme, handed down from generation to generation since 1850. Today, Marie-Claude and Olivier Cuilleras (the fifth and sixth generations of winegrowers) carry on this tradition with passion and dedication. The vineyard, which is farmed organically, flourishes on stony, sandy-clay soil, ideal for producing generous, full-bodied, aromatic wines. This cuvée, made from 70% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah, is a perfect reflection of this terroir. Harvested by hand, macerated for a fortnight, aged on fine lees in vats, it is bottled unfiltered to preserve all the wine's richness. It has a brilliant, deep ruby colour, a nose of black fruit and spices and a fine balance of smooth, fat tannins and hints of liquorice on the palate. Despite being classified as a modest appellation, this wine is surprisingly deep. It goes perfectly with white meats, Mediterranean dishes, paella or stuffed vegetables.
