Châteauneuf-du-Pape Domaine Le Pointu red 2009
197331
Located on the northern slope of the appellation, Domaine Le Pointu produces wines of character that combine southern power with elegant freshness. Selected by Le Delas from the 2009 vintage — an exceptional year in the Southern Rhône Valley for its concentration and ripeness — this Châteauneuf-du-Pape now displays remarkable fullness. Made primarily from Grenache Noir, complemented by Mourvèdre and Syrah, this wine is an essential choice for restaurateurs wishing to offer a fine vintage at its peak.
Food pairings, serving and storage:
► Sensory experience: With a deep purple colour and brick-red highlights, this 2009 vintage reveals a complex nose of jammy black fruits, leather, garrigue and liquorice. On the palate, the structure is powerful but the tannins are now integrated and silky, offering a long, warm finish marked by notes of pepper and cocoa.
► Food and wine pairings: This wine of character calls for hearty, well-structured cuisine. It pairs superbly with wild boar stew, a rack of lamb with herbes de Provence or a traditional Provençal daube. Its aromatic development also makes it an ideal companion for mature, characterful cheeses or truffle-infused dishes.
► Serving: For optimal enjoyment, it is strongly recommended to decant this wine an hour before serving to allow its tertiary aromas to fully develop. Serve at a temperature of between 16°C and 18°C in large glasses.
► Storage: This wine has reached its ideal stage of maturity. To ensure its bouquet remains intact until opening, store the bottles lying down in a dark cellar at a controlled temperature, away from vibrations.
