A tribute to excellence: An exceptional vintage
La Grande Dame is Veuve Clicquot's prestige cuvée, created in tribute to Madame Clicquot. The 2008 vintage is regarded as one of the finest in Champagne in recent decades, characterised by exceptional freshness and structure. Selected by Le Delas for its ageing potential and complexity, this cuvée is composed of over 90% Pinot Noir from the House's historic Grands Crus (Aÿ, Verzenay, Verzy, Ambonnay, Bouzy), complemented by the finesse of Chardonnay (Avize, Mesnil-sur-Oger).
Food pairings, serving and storage:
► Sensory experience: This Champagne has a golden colour with crystalline highlights. The nose is remarkably precise, opening with notes of dried flowers and white fruits (pear, peach), evolving into hints of hazelnut, almond and a chalky minerality. On the palate, the attack is lively and refined, offering a silky texture and a vinous depth that reflects the dominance of Pinot Noir.
► Prestigious pairings: Its power and elegance make it the ultimate wine for fine dining. It pairs masterfully with a citrus-infused scallop tartare, roasted turbot or Bresse poultry with morel mushrooms. Its structure also allows it to pair well with characterful cheeses such as mature Parmesan or a long-aged Comté.
► Serving: To appreciate the full essence of this vintage, serve it ideally between 10°C and 12°C. Use a large wine glass to allow the complex bouquet to unfold fully and to appreciate the finesse of its effervescence.
► Storage: This bottle has exceptional ageing potential (over 15 years). It should be stored horizontally, in complete darkness and at a constant temperature. The 2008 vintage possesses a natural acidity that ensures a harmonious development towards even greater complexity.
