A family of small exceptional coffee producers in Brazil since 1979
For more than 30 years, this family business has brought together many small coffee producers in a cooperative located in São Tomás de Aquino. The Aquinense Cafés are harvested on the nearly 300,000-foot family plantation in the mountainous region of Minas Gerais: "Mogiana Paulista", one of the most famous. The family-owned production is Catuai 99, Catucai, Mundo Novo, and Bourbon. Fernando Moura runs his family business with his brothers, coffee producers at heart, always focused on improving their crops, anxious to harvest the fruits at perfect ripeness and respecting production methods by traditional drying. It has allowed Aquinense coffee to achieve exceptional quality and to be among the best in Brazil today. For more than 30 years, this cooperative located in the São Tomás de Aquino region (St. Thomas Aquinas) has brought together many small coffee producers with a view to fair trade. The Aquinense Cafés are exclusively from Brazil, without addition of coffees from other origins. The varieties used are Catuai 99, Catucai, Mundo Novo and Bourbon. These coffees come from "Mogiana Paulista", a mountainous region of Minas Gerais, one of the five best terroirs of Brazil. Focused on crop improvement, these small producers are keen to harvest the fruits at full maturity and use a traditional drying method of production. Roasted in Brazil in the former style (very lightly grilled), without any input, and conditioned on site, this pure Arabica coffee is smooth, very sweet, without bitterness and offers a good length in the mouth, characteristic of good Brazilian coffee.
